What is
Coworking ?
What is coworking?
Coworking is a movement, an industry, and a verb.
Coworking is centred around a collective mindset and the benefits of collaboration.
A coworking space is a shared workspace, in which many independent organizations, companies and individuals choose to work. Coworking members rent desks or offices, and they share communal resources and facilities, like meeting rooms, kitchens, lounges, and even specialized technical or production equipment.
As amazing as they may be, the facilities are not the main benefit of a genuine coworking space. Coworking is not simply about great coffee and workspace and WiFI. The real benefits of coworking are experienced within an engaged and supportive coworking community.
A collaborative community takes care of it’s members, provides guidance and encouragement, and helps members to develop or grow their businesses while balancing family and self-care. Coworking members become part of an extended network of local entrepreneurs and organizations, accelerating serendipity and building new personal and professional connections.
Coworking is about working for yourself, but not by yourself.
We’re better together.
Is coworking for me?
Coworking spaces are perfect for small businesses, entrepreneurs, remote workers, small teams, freelancers, independent workers, start-ups, contractors, and even students.
Every space is unique, however most spaces feature meeting rooms and quiet spaces in addition to more active or social spaces. Coworking spaces can feature open concept desks, collaborative pods for small teams, and even private offices so that all of your needs can be met in one space.
Coworking spaces can also provide access to shared resources – podcasting or video production equipment for example. Some spaces provide childcare for parents who need solid time to focus and work more productively. There is a coworking community out there for everyone – you just need to FIND A SPACE that’s right for you.
Can you help me find a space?
Absolutely! Just follow these 5 easy steps.
1) Start on the FIND A SPACE page to see which coworking spaces are near you.
There you will find all the important details about each space, along with contact information and links to their website. Once you’ve selected a few spaces that appear to meet your needs…
2) Reach out to the space directly to book a tour of the space
All spaces are independently operated, so contact them directly to arrange a tour at your earliest convenience. Some spaces may be offering virtual tours during the COVID-19 pandemic.
3) Go for a tour!
Explore the coworking facilities. Test out the chairs, the coffee and the soundproof phone booth. Make sure the coworking environment suits your needs – there are many different kinds of workspace!
4) Ask a lot of Questions
A great Community Manager will encourage this dialogue. We also want to know about you! Tell us what you love to do, tell us what you’re working on, who you’d like to meet, and what kinds of events or resources would be most helpful for you. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’d be happy to point you in the right direction. We want you to find the space that meets your needs!
5) Experience a free trial day in each coworking space.
Meet some of the other members and learn who else is part of the community, get a feel for the energy in the space, from the noise level to the diversity of teams and members. Use your intuition – can you imagine yourself working here? Learning here? Growing here? When you’ve found the right space, you’ll feel it <3
